Ebara International Corporation's Cryodynamics Division, located in Sparks, Nevada, has broken ground on a $2 million expansion of their liquefied gas pump test facility. This expansion will allow an increased number of their submerged cryogenic pumps to be tested per year. The expansion includes the addition of two test tanks, bringing the total to five, and in-line heat exchangers into the suction lines to increase the efficiency of the closed loop system.

oct_13_2005_pr_image.jpgThe expansion is required to keep up with the increased demand in the LNG (liquefied natural gas) market, which is increasing at a very high rate. The submerged pumps manufactured by Ebara-Cryodynamics are primarily used to pump natural gas when in it's liquid form prior to being vaporized. After vaporization, the gas is sent through a distribution network throughout the country where the gas is delivered, and used for cooking, heating, power generation and other industrial uses. The pumps are also used in the exporting countries who refine and liquefy the gas, and also in the shipping industry to deliver the LNG to the importing countries.
